Cleveland Indians / 3-20-2008

It would not suck to be C.C. Sabathia right now. He is 28-years old and the reigning Cy Young Award winner. He is also in the final year of his contract in the same year Johan Santana signed a six-year $123 million deal. C.C. called into the Jungle on Thursday to talk about the Indians going into this next season and to talk about his contract situation.

C.C. is fired up to have the same Indians team back that came within a game of winning the American League championship last season. He told me that for the first time since he has been with the team, the roster is returning in pretty much the same shape it was the year prior.

Going into a contract year, most interviews with C.C. eventually end up about his situation with the team. He announced last month that he and his agent has discontinued contract discussions with the team and will not open up the talks until after the year. C.C. told me that he just doesn't want it to be a distraction this season. He went through a similar situation a couple of years back and he admitted that it was not fun handling something like that while he is trying to play baseball.
