No need to watch tonight’s game 5 between the Pistons and the Magic! It’s already over! The Magic are going to win and send the series back to Orlando for game 6, so don’t waste your time with it. How do I know? Magic’s guard Jameer Nelson guaranteed it: “We’re going to make some adjustments and we’re going to win this game. I’m not being arrogant or cocky or anything like that. I think (Saturday) we let it slip out of our hands. Game 2 we let slip out of our hands. We’re going to win this game in Detroit.”
Look, I like Jameer Nelson’s attitude and swagger a lot! And, we’re well beyond the time when guarantees really “moved the needle”. Guarantees “jumped the shark” a few years back…you know, right before the expression “jump the shark”, “jumped the shark”! But, this guarantee is going to irritate the Pistons more than it’s going to motivate the Magic. And a guy who missed a few key free throws the previous game, playing for a franchise that has lost 10 of 11 playoff games to Detroit, shouldn’t be guaranteeing anything! And, just so Nelson wouldn’t feel alone, my man Rashard Lewis picked him up saying, “I feel we’re still the better team. It was our mistakes, nothing they did. They’ve still got to beat us one more time.” And they will, Rashard! Tonight…Rashard!
The better team does not lose in 5 games, something that is about to happen. Scoreboard! Scorebaord! Scoreboard, Rashard!
