NFL Hall of Famer / 8-25-2008

For as long as I can remember, Howie Long has been nice enough to appear in the jungle once or twice a year. Back in the early '90's, we used to gloss the Raiders 'The Ducks' and I remember calling Howie 'Howard the Duck'. That seems like it was ages ago. Ever since, Howie has come on to break down the latest NFL topics and give us an update on his life.

Obviously, it's been a big year for the Long family with Howie's son Chris being taken with the 2nd overall pick by the Rams this past spring. Howie told me that he didn't start thinking of Chris as a potential NFLer until his junior season at Virginia.

Howie was teammates with the late Gene Upshaw on the Raiders back in 1981. Howie was just coming into the league and Gene was in his last season. Howie told me that he learned a ton about being a player in the NFL from Gene, and a lot about what it meant to be a member of the Raiders.
