Seattle Seahawks QB / 8-26-2008

Not only is Matt Hasselbeck one of the top five Quarterbacks in the NFL coming off a Pro-Bowl season in which he put up the best numbers of his career…Matt is one of the best interviews in that league! He called into the Jungle on Tuesday to talk about the relevance of the pre-season, the departure of Mike Holmgren, and if he is going to be able to move the ball on offense without his top two receivers available.

Matt looks at the NFL pre-season with the glass half-full. When most people see pre-season games as a waste of time and a way to have the league's top players injured before the season starts, Matt thinks there is value in the games and he wishes he could be healthy enough to get his reps right now. He said the good thing about a player like Osi Umenyiora getting injured now, is that he can start his rehab and probably be back for next season. I guess that is a good way to look at it!

The Seahawks are currently without Bobby Engram and Deion Branch. They were Matt's top two receiving options from a year ago. He said he has Nate Burleson and a couple of other unknown receivers who can step up and get the job done.
