Baltimore Ravens / 9-8-2008

Few athletes call into this show and make an immediate impact like Baltimore Ravens’ Linebacker Bart Scott did on Monday. Bart hit big in the Jungle and then asked me at the end of the interview if he was in my 'Top 5'. I don't know if I am going to put him there, but he did so well I will put him up there with the guys that I look forward to having on again soon.

It was in the news last week that Chad Johnson said when he saw Bart on the field Sunday, he was going to quote: “punch him in the mouth”. Bart told me on the show Monday that he never responded in the media to that comment and that he let the scoreboard speak for itself Sunday. He also said that he knew Chad was full of it anyway and that Chad came up to him before the game and made sure Bart knew he was joking.

Bart is seven years in, he made it to a Pro-Bowl and he is looking at a contract after this season that will pay handsomely. All of this after being an undrafted free agent out of Southern Illinois. Back in '02 when the Ravens signed him, they gave him a $500 bonus. That's right, $500! Bart told me the funny thing about that story was that Ozzie Newsome had initially called and offered $1,000, but later called back and said he could do $500. Ouch!
