It was just a week ago that I burned on Manny Pacquiao going on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and delivering the most vicious beat-down of his career…when he murdered, “Sometimes When We Touch.” Well, that disaster was nothing compared to what nearly went down last night backstage at the same show!
50 Cent and his crew were gearing up to perform, when in walked trouble. Trouble in the form of Marv Albert! “Yes!!!” According to the L.A. Times, Marv and a “PR flak” from TNT got a little too close to 50 and his crew. They didn’t recognize Marv and the next thing know, obscenities and fists are flying and a Kimmel security guard screamed, “it’s Marv Albert.” 50 and his crew vs. Marv Albert and a “flack”. I think we know how that’s going to go.
Marv said, “we thought they were kidding, but then I realized they weren’t.” Right! I don’t think that crew does a lot of kidding. Not after their guy was shot 9 times.
Look, I’m a huge Jimmy Kimmel guy, but some of this on their booking staff. You can’t put Marv’s crew in the same room as 50’s. What do think is going to happen?! They’re lucky shots weren’t fired. Of course, there’s going to be tension. You wouldn’t put Jay-Z in the same green room as Dick Stockton would you? No way! Just like back in the day, there’s no way you would ever book NWA the same night you have Vin Scully and his “posse” in the house.
And trust me! You don’t want my man Chuck D and Public Enemy within 50 miles of John Madden and his crew.
What, have you already forgotten about all the rumors of a Biggie Smalls- Brent Musburger turf war back in the day. And I don’t think 2Pac ever got beyond that legendary beef he had with Pat Summerall. And how about Marv and 50 both repping the east coast, but ready to riot out here on the west coast?! I can’t believe there’s not some mutual respect there! Has Marv never once bumped “Get Rich or Die Tryin’”?! And has 50 never heard Marv erupt after a poster job in the association?!
