Chargers Choked Against The Jets
Quick question for the Chargers: how do you play your worst game of the season, in the most important game of your career, when you had played so well for three months coming in?! How do you no show when you know you’re looking at your best shot ever at getting to the Super Bowl and you’re facing a rookie Q.B., rookie running back, and a rookie head coach…in your own house?! There’s no getting around this; they went into the tank. Again! The moment was bigger than they were. They were rattled and then unraveled. And they lost composure in their own house. The Chargers were supposed to be well beyond that sort of melt-down. But they’re obviously not. And as far their mistakes being so uncharacteristic, let me give you another word for uncharacteristic…choke. If you make that many killer mistakes in a game that big…and they’re mistakes you usually don’t make…you tanked. The Jets handled the pressure and the... More » |
Favre And The “Pants” Song
It’s been 48 hours and I’m still not over the shock of Brett Favre’s performance in the Dome on Sunday. And I’m not even talking about him slinging those four T.D.’s and turning the Cowboys’ defense inside out. That’s what that old man does! I’ve come to accept that we were all wrong about this guy; and that no matter what happens in New Orleans Sunday, Brad Childress was right to lay out the way he did to bring in the ‘Ol Gunslinger. I’m not talking about the Silver Fox’s act during the game. I’m talking about after it! He gathered his guys in the locker room and blew up the Cowboys with a “Pants on the Ground” blast?! I never would have thought American Karaoke would have to fight with Hee Haw and the Dukes of Hazzard on the Gunslinger’s DVR. How long before Simon has the ‘Ol Silver Fox seated between Randy and what’s her name for a guest judging stint? I don’t remember Tom Brady huddling up the Pats and knocking out Bill... More » |
Keith Brooking's Complaint
Let me weigh in on Cowboys linebacker Keith Brooking hammering the Vikings for piling on with that late T.D. during Saturday’s beat-down of the boys. Brooking wanted to fight the entire Vikings team and Coach Brad Childress after it happened. And then lit them up after the game: “I thought it was totally classless and disrespectful. This is the NFL. That’s not what it’s all about.” Great player and leader…bad take. Sure they were running it up and made you look bad in the process. But that’s on you, not them. If you don’t want to look bad, make a play. Just because you had run your white flag up the pole and stopped trying doesn’t mean they did. Just because you were looking to get off the field as fast as you could, doesn’t mean they were. They were enjoying that beat-down, didn’t want it to end and wanted to keep playing. And so should you! Your problem is, they were playing a 60 minute game, and you were committed to just 58... More » |
The Hit On Kurt Warner
Prior to Sunday’s game with New Orleans, Arizona Cardinal coach Ken Whisenhunt admitted on this show he had a hard time seeing Kurt Warner retiring considering how well he has played this season. Of course, that was before the hit happened. If Warner was on the fence about returning…Saint defensive end Bobby McCray may have just knocked him off it! I’m guessing that felt below average. That was a vicious shot. And perfectly legal! And credit to Warner, he could have drifted off the field and stayed out of harm’s way instead of putting himself right in McCray’s crosshairs. That shot was a defensive player’s dream! A blindside opportunity, in the open field, on a interception return. Considering all the rules that are in place to protect the Q.B., given a free shot, there isn’t a guy anywhere who won’t take it. Or who doesn’t dream about it! That was a once in a career a kill shot and he took it. And while I really hope it’s... More » |
