Tiger, Nothing Says “Stand-Up Guy”
Nothing says “accountability” and “stand-up guy”, like being the most famous person on the planet, melting-down with the biggest scandal ever, going into seclusion for three and half months, and then finally re-emerging for some bogus presser, with a few hand-picked media toadies who aren’t even allowed to talk. Way to man-up, Tiger. Tiger Woods’ agent Mark Steinberg described tomorrow’s gathering as a “small group of friends, colleagues and associates.” Awesome! Who’s going to be there? Phil Knight? Mark O'Meara? John Cook? M.J.? Charles Barkley. Tough room, ‘E’. The more things change, the more they stay exactly the same. And this guy hasn’t changed at all! People like that never do. And if you’re looking for some newfound humility, modesty or perspective from Woods, you’re begging. Nothing could be more predictable than this gutless, staged re-entry. Why even bother?! If you’re not going to take any... More » |
Tiger Doesn't Owe The Fans An Apology
And to this question of, “does he own anyone other than his wife and kids an apology?”…the answer is, “no”. He really doesn’t. But if he cares about his fans, something I’ve always been skeptical of, he will apologize to them. Because it’s the right thing to do! If he cares about anything other than himself, wins and money. It’s the right thing to do, because right or wrong, most fans thought they were getting more than just the best golfer ever. I’m sure some of you couldn’t care less what this guy does off the course. That he could be the worst guy ever, but as long as he’s racking wins and chasing Jack Nicklaus, you’re good with it. But (most) people aren’t like that. They thought they were getting not only the most dominant athlete of his generation, but a great family man. A guy who represented ideals such as “honesty” and “integrity”! That’s what made this guy so transcendent and iconic. That’s why he was more... More » |
Lindsey Vonn Skied So Well…
Lindsey Vonn set it all beautifully didn’t she? Most athletes don’t want to talk about their injuries prior to the big game or event because they don’t want to give their opponent an edge or make any excuses in the event it doesn’t go their way. Vonn, on the other hand, couldn’t stop talking about her injury! She even went as far as to say she thought she might not even be able to compete in the women’s downhill. Too hurt to compete or scorch the course and win a gold medal. One or the other. Well-played, Lindsey! If it didn’t happen you had an out, and if it did…you go instant legend. And that’s exactly what happened! Maybe she wasn’t as banged up as she led everyone to believe. Or maybe she was, and the adrenaline kicked in and the numbing cream and cream cheese she hit the shin with worked, but she showed up. And even after watching two of her competitors before her eat it with ultra-nasty, full on yard sale wipeouts, her pulse... More » |
