Take(s):

Barry Zito Plunks Prince Fielder

The only thing funnier than Barry Zito dotting Prince Fielder on his very first pitch to him in a spring game yesterday, was Zito pretending he had no idea why anyone would insinuate that it was intentional. How mad do you thin the Giants were with Fielder for bowling his teammates over at home plate after that walk-off shot last September?

They couldn't even wait for the regular season to put one in his back.

I get that Baseball's code is arcane, vague and indecipherable. And that only the guys who actually play the game understand it. But you don’t need to be a major leaguer to know Fielder was way out of line with that celebration and that there’d be some retaliation. Of course, Fielder thought it was unjustified: "if that’s what they gotta' do, let them hit me once, if it makes them feel better." Actually, Prince, it pretty much made everyone in Baseball feel better.

You had that one coming. And apparently you're the only... More »

Cromartie Traded To The Jets

The New York Jets already had 2009's best corner…in Darrelle Revis. And now they have 2007's best: Charger cast-off Antonio Cromartie. Problem is, that was '07, this is 2010. And he's not the same cat. No where near it. And no one hyped the guy like I did back in '07. Back then he was the perfect cover. He was the future. Deion 2.0. Scary talent…track speed….crazy ball skills. Whether he was one-handing Peyton Manning or housing field goals, you saw #31 in every highlight package. And you still do. Only, they're no longer his highlights. They're everyone else's.

Now, he's always the guy with the freaky straight-line speed who's trying to run down a "house call" from behind, but is rarely able to do so.

The other thing is he's joining a defense that is known for lighting up suckers, knocking out chumps, smoking fools and talking noise. And now Cromartie is known for talking noise. In fact, I think the biggest snot-bubbler he delivered last year... More »

The Rome Report:

Brett Favre
Mar 05, 2010
Jay Leno just had to go and ask Brett Favre what his plans are for next year. And the ‘Ol Gunslinger’s answer was pretty predictable: “well Jay, it’s only been a month and I know now that I’m just not going to say anything anytime soon, just going to kind of sit back, relax, enjoy the offseason.” You know it Gunslinger.
