Carry The Pads Rook

Good news-bad news for Dallas Cowboy wideout Dez Bryant. Good news, despite questions about his character coming out of Oklahoma St, he’s banked all sorts of goodwill by quickly signing his deal, getting into camp and making his presence felt. Bad news; he’s about to give it all back by not knowing his place, and refusing to roll with rookie hazing procedures.

Veteran wideout Roy Williams told Bryant to carry his pads after practice but Bryant’s not having any of that: “I’m not doing it. I feel like I was drafted to play football, not carry another player’s pads. If I was a free agent, it would still be the same thing. I just feel like I’m here to play football. I’m here to try to help win a championship, not carry someone’s pads. I’m saying that out of no disrespect to (anyone).” Eehhhhhh! Wrong answer, Dez. Actually you... More »

Two Should Go To Cincy

My man, Terrell Owens, is still without a team, but apparently not without options. Chris Mortensen says the Rams are asking if Two would be receptive to their making him an offer. I’ll handle that for you Two: No. What does he get out of that? A chance to take a 3-13 team and make it 4-12. You do know you drafted Sam Bradford and are on the verge of paying him $50 mill right? And that Two doesn’t do Q.B.’s…especially young Q.B.’s who don’t know what they’re doing or where to put it right. Both parties need to keep moving.

Now, TMZ is reporting that T.O. is “Very close” to becoming a Cincinnati Bengal. And if my man Harvey Levin says it’s so, then it probably is. Harv is killing it. My only question is, how is there even any room left on his greaseboard when he has to follow the Kate Gosselin Botox nightmare and the... More »

Angels Pull A Stunner

Just when you think the Angels have no shot at running down Texas. And they know they have no shot at catching the Rangers and have accepted it. They pull a stunner and work the D-backs in a deal for pitcher Dan Haren. I’d love to tell you I saw that one coming… but that would be a lie. I spoke with their manager Mike Scioscia last Friday and didn’t even ask him about Haren because like most everyone else, I just assumed he was headed to the Yankees.

Well, that and because the Angels always target pitchers and are never able to pull the trigger. But they did this time and it’s a great deal for the Angels. And Haren is pitching much better than his record and era indicate. He has a strikeout to walk ratio of nearly 7 to 1, proving he’s still filthy. He eats a ton of innings, goes right to the front of their rotation and really didn’t give up much... More »

Make Your Own Call Chris

Things are heating up in New Orleans where the face of the franchise, Chris Paul sat with management and reportedly officially asked for a trade. New GM Dell Demps and new coach Monty Williams are urging Paul to at least give them a chance, but apparently Paul has already made up his mind and wants out. Looks like Paul has gone to school on that bomb LeBron James dropped on C-town.

And James and his crew are clearly in Paul’s head. Bad enough James left the Cavaliers in ruins, he apparently is urging Paul to do the same to the Hornets. He tweeted recently, “Best of luck to my brother…do what’s best for you and your family.” Translation, do what’s best for me and my marketing firm as I continue to try to build my base of power outside of South Beach. Why is James pushing Paul to do anything at all. How does that involve James? I get that today’s... More »
