Revis v. Jets
Darrelle Revis’ situation has gone from bad to worse with Jets owner Woody Johnson telling E 60 he thinks Revis will sit out the entire season. While Johnson is posturing and negotiating, don’t think Revis doesn’t have it in him. He’s being advised by his uncle Sean Gilbert, who once did just that as a player and it worked. He got paid, so don’t think Revis won’t do it. Of course, he’s looking to jam the Jets for as much as he can. Photos: Revis Island One, he knows they don’t exactly have a sparkling record of rewarding their players and the memory of them ripping Leon Washington’s offer when he broke his leg is still fresh in his mind. Two, he knows he’s the best in the game, and what Nnamdi Asomugha and Champ Bailey make and wants more. And three, he’s heard Rex Ryan hype him and GM Mike Tannenbaum admit that he’s the Jeter of the Jets. If that’s... More » |
Van Gundy's Heat Predictions
That bulls-eye on the Miami’s Heat back just got a little bigger now that Jeff Van Gundy has predicted they’ll break the single season win record. Oh, and that they might break the Lakers consecutive game winning streak too; “They will break the single season win record of (72). And I think they have a legit shot at the Lakers game (winning) streak in (1971-72) as well. And only the Lakers have even a remote shot at beating them in a playoff series. They will never lose two games in a row this year.” Strong take. Of course, I don’t agree with any of it. I don’t even think J.V.G. agrees with any of it. Photos: Miami Heat 2010-11 What I think is… there’s still some bad blood between the Van Gundy’s and Pat Riley over how Riley did Stan in Miami, and little bro is picking his big brother up with that crack. Bad blood, a huge in-state rivalry which is now national... More » |
Hout Finally Talks Blount Punch
It took nearly a year, but Boise St.’s Byron Hout has finally addressed the punch publicly. Hout, of course, was the player, who Oregon’s LeGarrette Blount put to sleep in last year’s season opener. Perhaps you’ve seen it? He says he understands, no matter what he does, this will probably always follow him: “It’s always going to be a shadow, I guess, in my career, a dark point. But I just try to learn from it. Everything happens for a reason and that happened to teach me, and hopefully a lot of other players, that you can’t let your emotions get out of control.” Well said. And you’re right; plenty of players did from that incident. They learned how to throw a perfect straight right. Freddy Roach couldn’t have demonstrated a more technically sound shot than that. I’m guessing that wasn’t the first punch Blount had ever thrown. And you also taught players that if you’re going to run your mouth, leave your helmet on to do it. And if you really have to take...
