Good news-bad news for Dallas Cowboy wideout Dez Bryant. Good news, despite questions about his character coming out of Oklahoma St, he’s banked all sorts of goodwill by quickly signing his deal, getting into camp and making his presence felt. Bad news; he’s about to give it all back by not knowing his place, and refusing to roll with rookie hazing procedures.

Veteran wideout Roy Williams told Bryant to carry his pads after practice but Bryant’s not having any of that: “I’m not doing it. I feel like I was drafted to play football, not carry another player’s pads. If I was a free agent, it would still be the same thing. I just feel like I’m here to play football. I’m here to try to help win a championship, not carry someone’s pads. I’m saying that out of no disrespect to (anyone).” Eehhhhhh! Wrong answer, Dez. Actually you were drafted to play football and carry someone else’s pads. Just like everyone else in the history of the league. I’m not saying the practice isn’t knucklehead. I’m saying it’s been going on since before the game started. What, have you decided you’re the guy to take on and change the system? Know your place, Rook. And your fight song. You’re not even carrying Williams' pads to earn his respect. You’re doing it to earn DeMarcus Ware’s, Terence Newman’s and Marion Barber’s. You’re doing it to show, you get it, you’re one of the fellas. And that you don’t think you’re better than them. They’re not asking you to do anything they haven’t already done themselves. Trust me, this isn’t a Roy Williams thing since you’re playing for the same spot. Or a Dallas Cowboy thing. This is an NFL thing; which is why Shawne Merriman lit you up with this tweet: “Dump his (expletive) in the cold tub.” And don’t be surprised when they rip your credit card and get their grub and drink on because that’s next. And to quote the world’s foremost authority on this topic, Delonte West, “I don’t care if you have to fly! Trains, planes and automobiles…better carry his pads!”
