I like Terrell Owens to Cincinnati. And not for the reasons you may think. Not because I think it’s going to be a circus with a couple of pub addicts and look at me divas, fighting for attention and the ball. Although if that happens, and it probably will, that’ll be great. I like it as a pure football move. It’s no longer good enough to just run the ball and stop the run. That was just enough to get them bounced in the first round last year. You also have to be able to throw it. And they couldn’t. Look, T.O.’s not the dominant player he was in Dallas. Maybe he can’t get off the line the way he used to. And no longer has any interest in going over the middle. But that doesn’t mean he has nothing left and won’t help them. Because he will. He can still stretch secondary’s and make defenses pay that double Ocho Cinco or roll help over to his side. Something they didn’t have last year, and was one of the reasons they were one the worst passing teams in the NFL. Photos: Two's Career That’s not to say there isn’t risk involved. Any time you bring in a guy as volatile and combustible as T.O. a guy with a unique talent for wrecking a locker room, it’s a gamble. But in this case, it’s a good gamble. And if he didn’t snap in a bad situation in Buffalo, he probably won’t in a good situation in the ‘Nati. Crazy as it sounds, I think he knows his place and will accept his role. He knows he’s no longer a number one, and that he has to play Robin to Chad’s Batman. And as long as he respects his Q.B. and they’re winning, T.O. won’t light anything on fire. And if Carson Palmer can handle Chad, he can handle T.O. Question is, can he handle them both. And I think he can. In the meantime, two, I think I will grab some popcorn. I really do like it. But no one likes it as much as Chad Ochocinco, he’s peaking right now. He’s already sitting on 19,000 tweets; 19,000.. Jemele Hill can’t believe how often Chad tweets. 19 grr and since the announcement, each one, more over the top than the next. Chad challenged D Wade, LeBron and Chris Bosh to a game of 3 on 3 vs. Him, Two and Antonio Bryant. He @ tweeted the president to invite him to a Bengals game. But mostly, he’s tweeting at Two. And dropping copious amounts of gloss. He’s referred to the two of them as Batman and Robin, Siskel and Ebert, Bonnie and Clyde and Ying and Yang, but best of all, “T.O. and Chadfunkel.” And I’ll tell the one thing I would not expect from these two; the sound of silence, hey o!! Look, it’s all good now. Nothing but love and respect now. But if each of these guys can create problems on their own, how ugly could it get if you put them both in the same huddle?? If Two normally demands the ball, and trips when he doesn’t get it, what’s going to happen if he doesn’t get it and there’s cashe on the line? And sure, Chad wants someone to “Draw coverage away from him.” Until that guy draws the football away from him. Just sayin. As long as these guys can share the ball and the glory, they’ll be fine. And if they don’t. We win. So it’s all good. |
